Statistical Review of the Neoplasms in the Realm of General Surgery

Abstract
Of 453 neoplastic patients, confirmed histologically, from June 1956 to June 1967 at G.S. Dept., Woo Suk Univ. Medical College Hospital, statistical studies were done.
Neoplaplasms of stomach consisty of 269 cases(59.4%) was the most common one, followed bytumors of breast(15.4%), colon & rectum(15.4%), and thyroid(9.8%).
Among male group, stomach neoplasms and colon & rectum tumors are two common ones. The breast neoplasms and thyroid tumors are two most commonly involving in female.
Sex distribution assumed ratio of 1.34:1 with 260 males and 193 females, and predominant age group from 41 to 60 years of age.
In stomach neoplasm, there was 3 times as many in male as in female and age range in majority was 41 to 60 years of age(73.24%). Histologically, adenocarcinoma(46.0%) is predominant.
In breast neoplasm, there are 70.4 times as many in female is in male and 25.71% were among age group of 31 to 40 years and 22.85% among 51 to 60 years, thus two peaks were observed in predominant age incidence.
Histplogically, fibroadenoma consisted of 46.8%, being most frequent finding.
In thyroid, there were 4.5 times as many in female as in and male age range in common is 21 to 40 years of age (56.8%). Histologically, adenoma(52.3%) was predominant one.
In colo-rectal neoplasm, there were 2.3 times as many in male as in female and age range in majority is 31 to 50 years of age (50.0%). Histologically, adenocarcinoma(52.3%) was prevailing.
